No primeiro trailer da "Jump Force" é revelado os primeiros personagens jogáveis, que são Goku (Dragon Ball Z), Freeza (Dragon Ball Z), Naruto (Naruto Shippuden) e Luffy (One Piece). No final do trailer vimos Light e Ryuk (Death Note), este dois últimos, não foram confirmados como jogáveis, mas como parte da história. Uma demo jogável na E3 2018 adicionou a lista mais dos personagens jogáveis, Zoro de One Piece e Sasuke de Naruto Shippuden.

O produtor da Bandai Namco Entertainment Kōji Nakajima conversou com o a equipe da IGN sobre o jogo "Jump Force". Na entrevista, Hirano-san menciona que Light e Ryuk irão desempenhar um papel na história do jogo. Ele também revelou que os personagens do Jump estão se unindo para lutar contra um grande vilão em um modo de história abrangente. A identidade desse vilão ainda não foi revelada.
